Coach Alonzo Dunkentell, a Louisiana native, started his Jiu-jitsu journey February 2011 under the Royce Gracie Jiu-jitsu (RGJJ) system . For a one year period due to military obligations, Alonzo trained under Royce's older brother Royler Gracie's system where he received his blue belt. He then moved and was once again united with the RGJJ system. Under the RGJJ system he received his purple and brown belt. Alonzo dedicates all his training to self defense as this is his true love. Alonzo's personal philosophy is that no person should go without self defense knowledge and tools, so he dedicates himself to teaching RGJJ self defense whenever he can. He has competed in countless BJJ tournaments during his journey. Other martial arts skills Alonzo has are Boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA. He has a combined time of 5 years striking experience with 3 striking exhibition matches and 2 amateur MMA bouts. Alonzo received his black belt under Master Pedro Sauer and Ricardo Tubbs March of 2021. Alonzo is a First Class Petty officer in the United States Navy and has an associate degree in health science. He is also a Navy Command Fitness Leader, Navy Operational Fitness Fueling trained, and an Army level 1 combat instructor.
